Earlier, we’ve already asked if it’s possible to use WhatsApp Business on multiple devices.  If you’ve checked our guide out, then spoiler alert – the same solution works for this too!

Not sure how to run WhatsApp and WhatsApp business on same phone? Read on to find out how.

3 Solutions for how to run WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business on same phone

Solution 1: Use an existing landline for either and use your mobile phone number for the other.

To run both apps on one mobile device, you can associate either account with your landline.

Whether you’re using a normal WhatsApp account or WhatsApp business, you will need a unique phone number to verify and associate your account with. Since any WhatsApp account needs a phone number that’s exclusive to it, you’ll need two phone numbers if you plan to run both WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business on same phone.

The most straightforward way to is simply verify either account with your landline. This works because with either regular WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business, you can verify your account by receiving a verification message or getting a call verification that repeats the 6-digit verification code.

To get both WhatsApp and WhatsApp business running on the same phone using this method, simply:

  1. Download both apps on your phone
  2. Enter your landline number when prompted for verification on either app
  3. Wait for the initial verification message to fail.
  4. Click on the option for either app to call you once it appears
  5. Listen out for the verification code
  6. Key it in and you should be good to go.

It’s a quick fix, but it does have drawbacks. Both numbers are personal numbers, and by associating either with your WhatsApp Business account, customers pay potentially call in if they feel they need to speak directly with a customer representative. That’s not good, especially if you’re associating your WhatsApp Business account with your landline.

Solution 2: Generate a temporary phone number online to verify both accounts.

Sites like SMS Receive Free let you use temporary phone numbers to receive messages

Another quick fix for how to run WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business on same phone is to simply verify both accounts using temporary phone numbers that you can generate using online messaging services like Receive SMS Online or SMS Receive Free .

Both services work the same – simply pick a number you’d like to use, have WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business send a verification message to that number, and you’re good to go. Not all of the numbers listed on these sites work however, and you might have to do a bit of trial and error.

This method comes with an obvious caveat: it’s a one-off temporary phone number. Now, this might not matter with regular WhatsApp since calls and messages on WhatsApp are sent and received via the internet. With WhatsApp Business however, there’s absolutely no way you customers can reach out to you.

Solution 3: Get a second SIM card.

Most phones in the market today now have multi-SIM functionalities. If your phone can hold two numbers, you will have two unique phone numbers that you can associate with your WhatsApp Business and WhatsApp accounts. As an added plus, multi-SIM phones also allow you to run multiple versions of apps like Tinder, WhatsApp Business and more.

On the other hand, this would be a non-solution if your phone only allows one SIM card. Even if your phone can handle multiple SIM cards, the most you’ll be able to do is:

-          One WhatsApp and One WhatsApp Business account

-          Two WhatsApp accounts

-          Two WhatsApp Business accounts

The BEST Solution: Get a fake phone number

It’s important to have a phone number so that your business can deliver quality experiences on a reliable customer service system. Using a temporary phone number for verification or a personal landline might work, but both solutions just don’t make sense with WhatsApp Business.

In either case, you would want to also protect your online privacy and mobile security. Using your personal phone number for WhatsApp verification can be risky.

That’s where fake phone numbers come in. Using a fake phone number is the best solution because:

  • You protect your online identity whether you’re having personal conversations on WhatsApp or business negotiations on WhatsApp Business
  • A fake phone number can be used exclusively for business-related calls, ensuring a clear separation between work and personal life.

The benefits of fake phone numbers don’t just stop here. When you get fake phone numbers on an app like Phoner, you get to also run multiple versions of either WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business – enough for your social circles, or a full-fledged customer -service team.
